An Environmentally Friendly Christmas

Here is a sampling of the Christmas Gift Bags that I made this year ... the rest of them are with their recipients. I purchased a truck load (okay, not really that much) of fabric from Walmart (a flea market would have been even better -- next year) and proceeded to give all of our gifts in the bags I made from it. Just like paper towels and wipes -- if you don't buy wrapping paper, you won't use it!
I also purchased ribbon and some rick-rack, both of which I stitched to the bags.
I had the felt left over from other projects. Felt is great because it wont fray -- just cut into any fun shape and stitch on the fabric! A hot glue gun would also work, but hot glue and fabric can get tricky.

Benjamin made the bag with the Christmas tree on it, all by himself.
Victor, who is not experienced with sewing machines, wrapped all of my gifts in dish towels that he bought for me --tied with ribbon. Clever, isn't he?

Great way to get new dish towels & still be environmentally green! :)

Very very cute. Good idea. It would really be fun if you could convince everyone to reuse them and make a few additional ones every year. Think of the memories they'd bring back each Christmas.

Off the subject, but anyway...
Where is your recipe or directions for the homemade Greek yogurt? I got a maker for Christmas and really want to make Greek yogurt also by any chance do you know how to make passion fruit syrup to put in it? I know pretty unusual but you never know.

Thanks all, Yes, I think everyone is convinced regarding reusing and Tanya my SIL started making her own last year -- so after we have everyone supplied, we should be good! I like the additional point about the memories ... like Benjamin's Christmas Tree bag. :) RE: the yogurt directions, I think the link is at the top left hand side of the main page under "popular links" or something to that effect. I've never heard of passion fruit syrup, but would imagine it can't be too different from making jam ... Have fun with the yogurt maker! -Sandy

I've decided that I'm going to buy fresh fruits and vegetables and reusable bags from you! Seriously why don't you start your own business/farm stand? It would help us all out so much.

Cute! I love the felt embellishments on the bags. But my most favorite part is that V. wrapped your presents in dish towels. What a man! Presh.
