Feeling the Chill?

You could say that. Here I am sitting in our home at a balmy 61 degrees in my full length down coat on. I'd had it. It's usually warmer inside, thanks to our wood stove, but we are fresh out of wood. I turned up the heat because this isn't living. Is it? Take my poll. What temperature is your thermostat set at?

(Incidentally, the adorable wood print hanging on my wall was done by a close college friend Ruthy. We were Fine Art majors, so when it was time for Christmas, birthdays, Valentines Day, we gave one another our art. So I am blessed to have the artwork of my college friends all over my home. I think of them often.)

Believe it or not, we usually leave our thermostat at around 63. If I had to be home all day, I would probably freeze. But here's how it seems to work out ...

When I do get home at 4ish, I work out which keeps me warm, then I'm in the kitchen with the stove or oven on getting dinner ready, which keeps me warm, and then shortly after than we venture up to our bedroom to watch a movie/relax before bed in which we have a space heater in. But I still sympathize because at the beginning of winter, at first I did a lot of complaining as I seem to ALWAYS be cold no matter what!

I hope you warm up soon! : )

52 balmy degrees. The room with the Jotul is usually 70 though!

Well, It's not fair because I live in Louisiana, but we rarely turn on our heat except at night. Our fireplace usually is enough to knock out the chill.

We have had a cold winter for us this year though and when I do use our central heat I set it at 72....um and I consider that suffering.

By the way, I was a fine arts major as well.

We keep the thermostat set at 66 during the day and 64 at night. I have actually asked several people this same question and realize that we keep the temp. a bit higher than most. I just can't seem to get comfortable with it any cooler. I'm really looking forward to spring!

I turned the stat down to 58ish and use a space heater. That would probably be more difficult to do with kids and staying home, though.

LOL - that is a hilarious picture!

We have our heat set at 60-62 during the day at 58 at night. The house warms up on the sunny days, and we spend a lot of time in our sunroom. We also wear pants, several shirts topped with a sweater, socks, and slippers. I actually don't mind it at all - it is rather cozy.

Wood fires are the best, though. The heat they provide is so hot that to be without it sends a chill through the entire body. I'll never forget my dad, who is used to wood heat, huddling under a blanket at our house, even though the thermostat was up to 68-70! It really does a number on the body's equilibrium.

Well, I'm glad to hear I'm not imagining things. Kudos to those of you who keep your heat way down. It is true, as Lesley mentioned that moving around keeps you warm! When it's time to clean my house, 60 degrees feels perfect -- although I confess I'd be even happier in flip flops and shorts with the windows open! Hey, spring is coming. :)
Kristi, no wonder you're an art major -- with all that creative energy! Guess what? I used to be a youth leader too. About 4 years.
Be well all. -Sandy
