What will today bring?

For the first time all winter, both of my boys have the entire day off from school, due to snow. Last night (as you may well know) a winter storm came barreling up the east coast. It was unexpected for me, as I was dreaming of warmer days after our 50 degree day last week. My cold frames are starting to flourish, my seeds are sprouting and growing, my fruit trees are ready for pruning . . . a winter storm was just not on my mind. However, it's a welcome surprise to have both of my boys home with me for an additional day. What will today hold? Benjamin has already decided it must include an outdoor snow adventure followed by hot chocolate. Stay tuned . . .

Have fun and stay warm! It was 37 degrees here last night. We were all scratching our heads wondering where the 80 degree weather we had thursday went.

Lucky for us we had a birthday boy yesterday and there are plenty of new things to do since we're snowed in!

Thanks for your comments : )

As far as the kale chips, I just kinda tore apart some kale leaves into "chip" sized pieces, placed them on a baking sheet and sprinkled some olive oil and parmesan cheese on them (though any of your favorite spices would taste good, I'm sure), and then baked them at around 375 for about 15 minutes (or until crispy). My husband and I thought they were surprisingly tasty! (And, no, I unfortunately don't have land ... yet!) That's so neat that you grow kale and I'm sure tons of other plants, produce!

That sounds like an interesting documentary you watched. I can honestly definitely see how certain blogs about eating disorders could just make things worse. At least in my opinion, I think sometimes the more you think about an eating disorder and what might be wrong with you, or the food you're eating, calories, etc, etc, the more of a problem arises. This may not be the case with everyone, but sometimes it appears that by thinking about a problem it actually causes one where there was nothing before. I guess it can become very easy to over analyze things and then cause an actual problem, when really you could have just dismissed the thought and went on with life.

I don't like to over complicate things, but sometimes can be good at over analyzing things (thankfully, my husband is not that way!) In terms of a healthy lifestyle, I like to try to live by something I heard my pastor once say ... "Eat close to the ground and move" : )
